When you think of Nashville, honkytonks full of loud music and a bustling Broadway come to mind but we took things slow and classic for this portrait session at Cheekwood Estate. Cheekwood is a 1930s estate with an art museum and picturesque botanical gardens about 20 minutes outside of downtown Nashville in the Belle Meade area.

The gardens are stunning in all directions but we loved this classic architecture for portraits that featured a romantic fountain.

Below the estate is a reflective pond that was perfect for creating a beautiful photo of the couple. Even on an overcast day, the grounds felt romantic like a historical romance movie.

Scattered across the property are different art installations. We made use of different locations such as a glass bridge and a James Turrell installation. Both of these spots were quirky and modern which was a contrast to the southern inspired outfits our couple wore.

When the sunshine came out we took the time to sit in the grass and just have a moment of warmth. We mixed the usage of black and white and color images to show focus on the emotion.

We ended the session walking through the flower garden with arches that were starting to bloom. We loved this unique property and would recommend it for an alternative to the country expectations of downtown Nashville.
