This bay area couple brought the love and laughs at their engagement session in the city. We started at the iconic San Francisco City Hall where the couple got to shine in the beautiful light and grand architecture.

We always recommend getting to city hall early morning so you don’t have to deal with crowds, as many other couples take photos here after their civic ceremony. Another important thing to note is that San Francisco city hall is only open Monday through Friday to the general public.

We love the trendy elevator photos we’ve seen over social media but this truly takes precise timing to get it right, and usually you have a couple times to do it. Try practicing with your partner at home to nail the look you are going for.

Every photographer has a different approach to photographing their couple in city hall. We love to utilize the natural light and only use a flash if the area is particularly darker, usually during the civic ceremony.

One special area that many people don’t know about is two tree lined areas across from city hall. These usually are lush and green, strung with bistro lights in between during the late summer and fall months.

The Legion of Honor is an art museum on the west side of the city. Although Karl the fog is usually present, around noon on a good day it usually burns off. It’s roughly a twenty minute drive from city hall, and there is parking on site. One thing to note is that there has been cars broken into in this area, so just make sure you have no valuables in your car at anytime.

We ended the day with lunch at Jollibees, a Filipino fast food restaurant well known for their delicious chicken and Jolly spaghetti. This was a special nod to their heritage, and a fun way to show off more of their life with their engagement session.
