This editorial was recently featured on the front page of Utah Valley Bride. On one of our recent travels to Utah, we knew we wanted to put together something special to highlight the beauty and talent of this region. The Bonneville Salt Flats are known for its sparkling powder white salt against the blue hues of the sky. We took this as inspiration for our ‘desert oasis’ theme for a special elopement under the setting sun.
We opted for not one but two setups to maximize on the space given in this vast location. The first was an intimate floor setup with soft pillows and lush velvets with blue and gold details throughout. The second setup was set under a billowing tent that brought to mind expeditions in a far away land. Framed by an abundance of florals by Heritage Flower Company, the couple toasted and danced in their private oasis.
The couple wore local looks from Sweetheart Bridal and DC Tuxedos. To go with the color palette we chose a neutral colored suit with a sky blue tie and brown loafers. For the bride, she wore a form fitted gown with train and delicate lace long sleeves. A lot of brides tend to go for a flowy dress in the flats, but we felt this dress added a beautiful elegance to the affair.
With the sun setting fast, our bride changed into a second look – a sparkling blue cape gown with a silk head wrap. The colors were perfect with the deep contrast of oncoming evening and we found a little area with water on the flats that gave a luminous reflection to end the night.
