Pre-Wedding Shoots are hot, hot, hot. This session was no different in over 90 degree weather. My lovely couple will be celebrating their wedding later this year so we decided to come to another beautiful location in the bay area to capture some romantic portraits for their love story. Pre-Wedding shoots are an upscale version of an engagement shoot that capture natural, relaxed emotions to use for your wedding invites, website, thank you cards or framed at the wedding itself.
I always suggest making sure your ring is nice and cleaned as well as both parties wearing sentimental jewelry or accessories that reflect your personalty and style.
Since it was mid-day and super hot I made sure to find shaded areas for the majority of our portraits or had my couple face away from the sun. Another way to get soft lighting is to time your shoot early in the morning about an hour or two after sunrise at most or at golden hour which is usually an hour before sunset.
The last tip I have is that when you are in a public space it can sometimes make you nervous. I would say the best thing to do is breathe deeply in, out, and then look at your partner. Really focus on enjoying each other’s company and nobody else because the photos will stick with you over time and those people will have long forgotten having seen you at the space. Live for the moment and encourage your partner throughout the shoot for genuine, tender moments.
