When it comes to destination elopements, finding the ‘wow factor’ dress is essential. Without many of the traditional wedding decorations and venue features, all eyes are on the bride (or fabulous partner) in elopement photos. From my experience, having a dress with gorgeous movement will enhance your photos in your destination of choice. Below are some picks for designers and dresses that are a stand out.
Selena Huan Bridal – I’ve had the pleasure of shooting these stunning gowns and the quality of detail is exquisite. This Sage Gown from the Mystic Romance collection has a fitted bodice and a flowy chiffon train that will move beautifully in photos and video coverage. Selena Huan Bridal has lots of lovely options so definitely check out her collections.
Claire Pettibone – This Los Angeles based company specializes in effortless and enchanting gowns that have a luxurious feeling. This Saratoga gown from their Vineyard collection is jaw-dropping with it’s detachable cape streamers that add that extra detail to your outfit that is so unique.
Leanne Marshall – For the beauty that loves color and movement, Leanne Marshall has it all. From bespoke gowns to dreamy separates, this New York City Project Runway winning designer has it all. The Simona gown has an edgy v-neck bodice and an A-line silk skirt and train with a splash of colors. Perfect for a tropical elopement or sunset ceremony!
ASOS – Sometimes you can get lucky on websites like ASOS that have affordable gowns with movement and fun details. I love the contrast of a fitted top and flowy bottom especially if the wind is super high. Materials like tulle have a delicate and ballet vibe that is perfect for those mountain high or morning light photo moments.
Vagabond – This brand was founded in 2017 by Cape Town designer, Valery Zelenyuk to create beautiful gowns that are contemporary and for the free-spirited woman. The gowns have a timeless look with this Orion gown shown being more fitted to the body with a detachable full tulle skirt with hand beaded belt. Having options is perfect for getting dramatic portraits but then taming it down for dinner or the dance floor.
